The Challenge

Through a single leak in a drinking water pipe, 1 drop of valuable drinking water is lost per second. This corresponds to up to 3,000 liters of water per year. The contamination of drinking water through unauthorized water withdrawals at hydrants and control valves that do not function properly, as well as undetected leaks, lead to costs in the billions.

Solution and Implementation

By digitizing hydrants and control valves, we have not only been able to drastically reduce the loss of valuable drinking water, but also minimize the pollution of drinking water caused by unauthorized water withdrawals at hydrants and valves that are not functioning properly. This has resulted in us saving significant costs in the billions of euros every year. The introduction of a Product-as-a-Service offering and a digital water management solution for cities and municipalities has not only led to increased customer loyalty, but also enhanced customer lifetime value. Our customers benefit from real-time data from the field, which has contributed to a significant improvement in our quality management. Another major success has been the automated planning of maintenance intervals based on the usage data of the control valves. This has not only increased efficiency but also extended the service life of our infrastructure, resulting in significant cost savings in the long term. Overall, the success of our project shows that digitization can make a significant difference in water management, helping to preserve valuable resources, reduce costs and improve service quality for our customers.
